Dental Crowns An Overview
A dental crown acts as a “cap” used to address the damaged portion of a tooth to give it extra strength. Dental crowns are a durable, long-lasting solution used to repair and support a damaged tooth. Dental crowns can be secured using a dental implant to create a durable solution for patients who are missing teeth.
Dental crowns are permanently bonded into place for an effective cosmetic and restorative solution used to address:

Same Day Dental Crowns
Montclair Plaza Dental Group uses advanced technology to design, fabricate and place quality ceramic and porcelain dental crowns during a single visit. Using E4-D digital technology we can create a beautiful, custom crown to restore a damaged tooth or replace a broken crown.
Dental Crowns What to Expect
Receiving dental crowns will typically require two visits to our Montclair Plaza dental office. A local anesthetic is applied to numb the affected area. We also offer sedation dentistry for patients with dental fear and anxiety to promote a more comfortable experience.
Your Montclair dentist will prepare the tooth by removing any decay from the tooth. A small amount of surface structure will also be removed from the tooth. Dental impressions are taken and sent to a skilled local ceramist for fabrication. The dental crown is shaped, modeled, sized, and color matched to blend naturally with your existing smile.
Once fabricated, the dental crown is examined for fit and comfort. The dental crown is then permanently bonded into place.
If your new crown is being placed using CAD/CAM technology, we will use digital impressions to design, mill and place your new dental crown during your visit. Your dentist will discuss your treatment options based on your needs and goals.
Dental Implant Supported Crowns
For patients who are missing a single tooth, an implant supported dental crown is the most natural and durable solution. A dental implant is a small metal post that resembles a screw and is surgically implanted into the jaw at the location of the missing tooth. This post will actually replace the missing tooth root. This tooth replacement option is the only solution that will reduce the chance of bone loss.
After the surgical implantation, you will need about three to six months to heal and allow the post to fully integrate with the surrounding bone, a process knowns as osseointegration.
Next, a small piece called an abutment will be attached to the full integrated implant. Impressions will be taken and your custom dental crown will be fabricated. When your crown is ready, it will be attached to the abutment for a permanent restoration.
